Nals and its history

Settling has been going on in Nals since before the Romans. During the late Middle Ages the town especially bloomed. At least one could suppose admiring the numerous castles in the area like the Schwanburg, which was built in the 16th century. If you ever wanted to enjoy a meal in a castle you have a good chance at the Stachelburg which was built in the early renaissance and nowadays functions as a restaurant.
Following up the mountain you can find the ruin of the castle Pfeffersburg built in the 13th century and surrounded by some beautiful hiking trails.
Last but not least, Schloss Payersberg, ideal to have a beautiful view of the whole valley.
Visit them all if you can! But you should also consider visiting the other astonishing castles, churches and historical buildings in the neighborhood of Nals.
